PennDOT announces limited reopening of license, photo centers in 'Yellow Phase' counties
HARRISBURG, Pa (WJAC) — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Saturday that it will begin the limited reopening of some license and photo centers in counties that have moved into the "Yellow Phase."
Locally, 3 driver license centers will begin opening on Saturday, and one additional photo center will open on Monday.
- Clearfield Driver and Photo License Center: Clearfield Mall, 1800 Daisy Street. Unit 380
- Punxsutawney Driver and Photo License Center: 547 West Mahoning Street
- Rockview Driver and Photo License Center: 812 West College Avenue, Pleasant Gap
PennDOT says these centers will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 AM to 4:15 PM, and will host special hours of operation, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, for customers over the age of 60.
The following services will be offered, according to PennDOT:
- Commercial Driver License (CDL) transactions, including renewals, replacements, Medical Examiner’s Certificates (MECs), date of proof transactions, Hazardous Material Recertifications, and related transactions;
- Initial issuance transactions, including out-of-state transfers, ID card issuance, and related transactions;
- Photo license services;
- Driver license restoration services that cannot be completed online or via mail;
- Medical-related testing; and
- Non-U.S. citizen transaction processing
Beginning Monday, PennDOT adds that the Photo License Center in DuBois will reopen as well; its address and hours of operation are reflected below:
- 1203 East Dubois Avenue, Suite 2, Dubois, PA 15801; Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
PennDOT is reminding customers that wait times will be longer than normal and that those seeking to renew a license or ID should consider doing so online or by mail.
The following services will not be offered at this time:
- Non-commercial road testing;
- REAL ID applications and transactions, however, pre-verified customers can apply for REAL ID online; and
- Transactions or services that can be completed online at dmv.pa.gov.
PennDOT also listed the following safety protocols that will be in place:
- Customers will be prescreened and asked brief questions regarding any potential symptoms of COVID-19;
- Customers will be required to wear masks while in the facility, but must remove them for any photo services;
- Seating will be reduced at all Driver License Centers to make social distancing easier to maintain six feet distances between each seat;
- The number of customers will be limited to correspond with available counter stations and available seating in the customer waiting area only;
- Admittance to the facility will be limited to only the customer requiring service, unless assistance is needed by an accompanying person;
- Plexiglass sneeze guards have been installed at each counter to protect customers and employees;
- Cleaning protocols have been enhanced to sanitize facilities on an ongoing basis; and
- Markings on floors have been added to assist with social distancing along with signage to communicate special instructions to customers.
