A second person has died as a result of a crash last month on Route 22 near Ebensburg in Cambria County, authorities say.

According to Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees, 71-year-old Therese Dow succumbed Thursday to injuries sustained in the crash that happened May 25.

Dow’s husband, Richard, was killed in the crash. Officials say their dog had to be euthanized for injuries.

Investigators say a tri-axle truck hauling coal collided with the Dow’s SUV as it turned onto the highway from South Center Street at the Unimart intersection.

Authorities say the truck then crashed into a sheriff’s deputy vehicle that was in the opposite left-hand turn lane.

Lees says Therese Dow was pronounced dead at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center at 5:05 a.m. Thursday.

He says an autopsy was also performed Thursday confirming she died from injuries she sustained in the crash.

Lees says she was wearing a seatbelt.

He’s ruling her death accidental.

Authorities are still investigating what led to the crash and have not confirmed whether charges will be filed.
