PSU basketball coach Pat Chambers resigns amid misconduct allegations

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa (WJAC) — Penn State Men's Basketball coach Pat Chambers has reportedly resigned amid an investigation into misconduct allegations, according to a news release on the Penn State Athletics' website.
University officials say the decision comes after an internal investigation into new allegations of "inappropriate conduct" by Chambers which surfaced shortly after a report was published by The Undefeated in July detailing comments Chambers had reportedly made to an African-American player.
According to The Undefeated's report, former Penn State basketball player Rasir Bolton said he left the university after his freshman year after Chambers reportedly said, “I want to be a stress reliever for you. You can talk to me about anything. I need to get some of this pressure off you. I want to loosen the noose that’s around your neck.”
The investigation into the new allegations was conducted by Penn State's Affirmative Action and Athletics Integrity offices.
Athletic Director Sandy Barbour has reportedly named Jim Ferry as the interim head coach, the release states.
Chambers served as the head coach of the Nittany Lions basketball team for the past nine seasons.
