9th time follows 8 convictions

LADY LAKE, Fla. (TND) — She was no match for a license plate reader.
Valerie Jeanne Peters was on the road in Florida last Monday morning, May 6, when her pickup passed by one of those electronic devices and alerted a police officer she had a suspended driver's license.
"I conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, the arrest report said, “and addressed the reasoning of the stop.“Valerie stated she was unaware of the suspension.“I advised her the license was suspended for failing to pay a traffic citation, which she was advised.”Then came the reason for her arrest.
“I queried Valerie's driving history,” the officer wrote, “which revealed eight previous DWLS [driving while license suspended] convictions.”The officer was referring to cases from 2001, 2014, 2010, same date in 2010, 2011, 2019, 2021, and Dec. 11, 2023 — less than six months earlier.
Petters was arrested. Her pickup was towed.
She got a civil traffic citation for failure to provide proof of insurance, and a criminal citation for driving with a suspended license-third or subsequent offense.
“Valerie understands she has to appear at the mandatory court appearance on May 29, 2024,” the arrest report said. “Valerie was advised if she did not appear, an FTA [failure to appear] warrant could be issued for her arrest.”Petters, 53, spent 26 hours behind bars before her release in lieu of $2,500 bond.
